How to Share a Single Window in Kinect VNC
Step-by-step: pick one app to share while keeping the rest of your desktop completely private.

By default, Kinect VNC streams your full desktop. With the Capture Target feature you can limit the stream to a single app window — keeping everything else on your screen completely hidden from the remote viewer.
How it works
Kinect VNC captures a live thumbnail of every open window. You select one as the target. The viewer only ever sees that one window. If you lock the target, the viewer can't switch away from it.
Step-by-step
1. Open the Display settings
In the sidebar, click Display.
2. Find the Capture Target card
Scroll to the Capture Target card. You'll see a Viewer Switching dropdown and a thumbnail grid of all open windows.
3. Choose a target
Click any window tile in the grid to select it. The selected tile gets a blue border. You can also click Full Desktop to go back to full-screen mode.
Click Refresh to update the list if you've opened new apps.
4. Set the viewer switching policy
- Allow switching — the viewer can switch targets in-stream using the floating overlay. The session starts with your selected window.
- Lock selected target — the viewer is locked to the selected window. The overlay is hidden.
Choose Lock selected target for support sessions where you don't want the viewer browsing other apps.
5. Save and start
Click Save Changes, then start the server from the Dashboard. Your viewer will only see the window you selected.
When to use this
- Support sessions: show the customer only the relevant app
- Demos: present a product without exposing your desktop
- Teaching: share one application during screen-sharing lessons
- Shared machines: lock a kiosk screen to one remote-accessible app
