How to Use Session Codes for Quick Guest Access
Generate a temporary one-time code so a guest or support user can connect without a password.

Session codes let you give a remote viewer temporary access to your machine without sharing your permanent VNC password. The code expires automatically.
When to use session codes
- A colleague needs one-time access to help you
- A support technician needs to connect but you don't want to give a permanent password
- You want to let someone in for a limited time window
Step 1: Configure the expiry
In Security → Session Codes, set the Code Expiry in seconds. The default is 120 seconds (2 minutes). You can set it from 30 seconds to 1 hour.
Step 2: Generate a code
On the Dashboard, find the Quick Session Code card. Click Generate Code.
A 6-character alphanumeric code appears — for example AX7K2M. Copy it with the copy button.
Step 3: Share the code
Send the code to the other person via phone, chat, or email. Tell them to:
- Open their VNC viewer
- Connect to your IP address and port (shown in Connection Info)
- Enter the session code as the password
Step 4: The code expires
The code becomes invalid after the configured expiry time, or after use. You cannot reuse a session code. Generate a new one each time.
Tips
- Combine session codes with window-only sharing for maximum privacy — the viewer can only see one app and can only connect temporarily
- Generate the code right before the session to minimize the exposure window
- If you're not sure the viewer connected successfully, check Active Sessions on the Dashboard
